Change for the sake of change

Change isn’t good or bad, it just is. Right?

This time it’s a change of $25 wired earbuds for $160 wireless earbuds. The benefits? No wire to get tangled up in. Plus, richer and fuller digital sound.

I think Apple over estimates just how much the human ear is capable of picking up... and that the less is more when it comes to putting sound through earbuds. Adding higher sampling frequencies to the experience actually can degrade the audio quality... it sounds like noise. I also don’t need yet another device to charge. Not to mention the high probability of losing such a small, untethered device and the high cost of replacing it.

Of course, I can still use the wired earbuds I know and love with an adapter, but can no longer charge my iPhone and listen through earbuds at the same time... unless I want to buy a $40 splitter.

Apple is notorious for always being right and not listening to the concerns of their customers, so the only way we could ever convince them to bring back the jack is by voting with our dollars.

However, I’m confident I’m in the minority 1% who believes this is a deal breaker and will keep an iPhone SE in my pocket... I’d better get one before they remove the jack from the SE too.
