Where's the choir?

Today's XKCD is priceless!

I suppose that is because I can relate. I don't know if I believe that there is a "choir of angels," but I'm not ready settle for "what I have" as "what I want."

People give up when they get comfortable. They give up on their dreams, they give up on their goals, they give up on their hopes. They just settle in and get comfortable with what they have.

Their lousy jobs. A mate they don't love.

I know about the former, because I'm still working on my exit strategy there.

I also know about the latter, because I was there. I won't say that I didn't love her, because I did... but deep down, I always knew that I was settling. At one time, she was a great person, but she was never the one for me.

I probably haven't yet met that special someone... at least I've never heard the choir of angels.

Perhaps there is an angel, watching over me, ready to call that choir together when I do meet her.

Until then, I'm not going to live that idealistically. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm enjoying being single. I'm enjoying getting to know all of these lovely, gorgeous and fun women. I'm enjoying that they are enjoying me... and everything I have to offer!

And, in the midst of having all of these ladies on the side, if one turns out to be truly exceptional, then she will be the one I'll spend all of my time with.

Not out of a sense of scarcity as in the past, but out of a sense that we truly want to be together.

Now, that's the way it should be.

Through the straw?

So, last night I was going to stay in... do some homework, and just hang out... so, of course, I ended up going out to the club.

Interestingly enough, going out to the club is becoming both more and less of an experience. In many ways, it is less challenging. The bouncers, barkeeps, and owner all know me well now, so i'm kind of a VIP now... which is both awkward and cool.

I also know many of the young ladies who frequent the club... so I am able to build social proof fairly quickly to the girls I don't know, which is nice as well.

Last night, I was about to leave when "Paige," a young lady who worked there last summer when we met, wandered in with "Katie."

Paige and I have always had a certain something... which is nice and fun to run with, but Katie and I really hit it off.

We had some drinks, talked a bit... Paige was disappointed that I'm not a Sagittarius, Katie revealed some of her strange eating habits to me, and none of the BORING questions came up even once. There was even a bit of a debate regarding whether martinis should be sipped through a straw. (Of course, they shouldn't!)

We'll have to see what happens. I ended up hanging out with those pretty young ladies for a couple of hours, even venturing out to a neighboring sports bar.

It never ceases to amaze me how much game I have... especially on those nights when I go out and don't run game!

I'm not going to say that everything I did last night was perfect, but I'm still a young padawan... I still have so much to learn, and I did learn a bit from last night's experience. It's just more fun when it goes well than when it doesn't. =^)

Consider it a certaintly that Katie and I will meet again... and next time, I'll be even better than the last!

This looks promising...

Hmmm... it looks like I'll be spending some money next month. =^)

Taking the upper hand...

You think you're better than me? Oh, you're not better than me. You handle my ass pennies everyday. You pick up my ass pennies for good luck. You throw my ass pennies in fountains and make wishes on them. You give my ass pennies to your little daughter to buy gumballs with.

Several years ago, there was this bit on a skit-show called Upright Citizens Brigade. The definition of "ass pennies" is:

Pennies that are inserted into one's ass en masse and then distributed among the world in order to maintain the upper hand in negotiations.

Ok, so before you ask... no, I'm not resorting to this extreme to achieve the upper hand in my conversations. However, I have found that just thinking that the person I'm talking to has ass pennies in his or her pocket does give this sense of confidence.

Of course, there is something to holding onto the thought of "I can make you do things you've never imagined... and like it," when talking to the young ladies.

I can too... but I digress.

I'm still torn... an iPhone would be very, very nice, especially re-simmed to the T-Mobile network. But, the new iPod has to be very, very close. Apple's last iPod released happened in the late-summer, early-fall... and the iPod looks so outdated in the Apple store.

I do want a new phone though. Mine has had a terrible week and it looks like it's several years old suddenly. However, since I tend to drop phones, but not iPods... perhaps an iPhone is too much responsibility for me right now.

While I thought my Nokia phone was sexy a year ago when I bought it, less than a month after that, it started "peeling" as the rubber coating they put on it doesn't play nice with the fabric of pockets.

Last night, I had a good workout... combination of working the chest area with a two mile run/walk. I bumped into "Faye," who was in one of my history classes last year. She always gives me this look when she sees me, waves, and says, "Hi." We have yet to have the time to talk... a situation I intend to remedy soon. These opportunities need to stop slipping away!

Then there is "A," who was working in the gym last night and voiced her observation that I'm running at a much faster pace than I was last spring.

Also, last night, I discovered a bar that I'd never been into before. The drinks were strong, the girls were pretty, friendly and enjoyed talking about sex, and the jukebox had a decent selection on it... so I'll probably be back.

Cure for a bad day...

Food prices are going up... way up. Prices on the stuff we buy for fun (digital cameras, electronics and the like) have been falling. Good, that's why I'm having an iPod for dinner tonight.

So, what do you do when you're having a bad day?

Me? Well, I've discovered that a visit to a particular coffee shop always cheers me up. I don't know if it is that chai tea, the atmosphere, or the adorable barista who is so fun to flirt with.

I'll give you one guess. ;^)

She always brightens my day... which I still find cool, because I had the hardest time getting her to open up. I don't know how many times I ate or drank at that coffee shop when she wouldn't say two words... and now she's just very, very chatty.

Talking with her always improves my game.

It's been a while since I've managed to post anything. However, no one has noticed, so that's no big deal. Now that school is back in full swing, I can concentrate on this and only post when I feel like venting, gloating, or otherwise just want to talk to myself! =^)

Last Thursday, I was in an Apple store in Denver, and I played with the iPhone for the first time. It really is a sweet piece of technology... and great fun to play with!

Looking around the store, I made an interesting observation. Other than the MacBooks, the iPod is the only device in there that isn't brushed aluminum. In fact, the iPod is the MOST outdated piece in the entire store.

So is there something just over the horizon? I would say the odds favor it.

I'm ready!

I had a lot of fun "scent" shopping in the Flatiron Crossing Mall last Thursday afternoon. In case you don't know how to properly scent shop, this is what you do. You pick two great smelling colognes. Spray one on one wrist, the other on the other. Then, you go shopping. Every beautiful girl you encounter, you ask for her opinion. After you're done shopping, you buy the scent that was preferred.

Because, let's face it... if you want to attract a beautiful girl, they know how an attractive man should smell better than a man does! Plus, you get to meet a lot of great girls that way! =^)

No flakes

Did you ever have one of those weekends that just kind of hang on to you through the beginning of the week?

Last night, at a club, I met "Nique," a lovely young lady with amazing, long, and naturally curly hair. When I went out I hadn't intended to run game on anyone, but you know what they say about those nights when you're "not looking."

Nique loves lawyers, lawyer shows, strong hands and great back rubs. I told her a little bit about myself as well, but not too much. I'm still amazed at how well things went.

I won't go into details... beyond saying that Mr. Cairo made a new friend, and she has a piercing in a very interesting place.

And she has the softest lips... and hands...

I'm certain we'll meet again! =^D

Not too soon though, the "aftermath" is leaving me a little off of my game. Or is it?

Today is my first day back on campus. Call me crazy, but I'm taking ten hours in addition to my full time job. Add to that my dance class on Friday evenings and my theatre class on Wednesdays... it doesn't leave me with a lot of spare time.

However, I've met a couple of great gals in my dance class... and there are plenty of lovely ladies in my French class. That should be fun, because there will be a lot of interacting there.

If that isn't a perfect place for "game on," nowhere is! =^)

My history classes are bound to have new women as well... and I'm really looking forward to the theatre class, which starts after Labor Day.

Busy, busy boy... but happy!

No longer with us... still

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm going to predict that this is not the year that Elvis is going to appear from the woodwork and prove that he's been living in obscurity for the last 28 years.

Actually, I've noticed that each year there are fewer and fewer Elvis sightings. Or maybe they are just getting lost amidst the far too many Britney, Paris and LiLo sightings.

Things are so different now. Thanks to the Internet, we can have instant news at our fingertips. So, do people look online to check on current events that matter or educate themselves to make the best choice at the polls?

Erm... not exactly. They rush to the computer for Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy report, Britney's parenting skills, and Lindsay's... um, what's she famous/infamous for?

Oh yeah, being a stupid kid... just like the rest of us were at that age, but without a camera in our face 24/7.

Anyway, in case you missed it today is the anniversary of Elvis's death. My folks weren't fans, so I wasn't exposed to Presley's music as a child. However, a few years ago I was introduced to the "Don and Mike Show" out of DC. Every year, either on his birthday or deathday, they run their annual "Elvis is still dead show."

In spite of the tacky/insensitive title, listening to the show it is clear that Don Geronimo is a lifelong fan of the king of rock and roll. Why else would he collect so much worthless and obscure (and fascinating! ) trivia regarding the life of Elvis?

This is a day in radio I always look forward to... just to hear the old stories and that occasional new nugget that surfaced this year, or just didn't get mentioned in recent shows.

And now, I can thank the Internet! Almost six years ago I moved out of the nearest "Don and Mike" market, so my only option was to take the day off and make a trip just to listen.

Crazy? Maybe. Worth it? Totally!

But now it is easier. Three years ago, I caught the show by setting up my computer to record the streaming broadcast (we cannot stream audio at work). Last year, I discovered someone who was recording the show and providing bootleg podcasts.

This year, they are providing official podcasts of every show! In fact, I do try to catch every show, but rarely get through every episode. It's too much to listen to at my job where my concentration usually limits what I catch on the show.

However, tomorrow they'll post the "Elvis" special, and I will listen to it from start to finish!

And commercial free! W00t!

Thanks to the show, I've become a fan of the king's music... so maybe I'll treat myself to a CD today too!

If music be the food of love...

Do you know what just started? I just came here to party, but now we're rockin' on the dance floor acting naughty. Your hands around my waist, just let the music play. We're hand in hand, chest to chest and now we're face to face. - Rihanna, "Don't Stop the Music"

Another work week begins... erm, yay?

The weekend was big fun! Friday night, the club held a casting call for one of those national model search reality shows. Needless to say, it was a good night to be there! I met more women than I can possibly imagine listing here!

Usually the odds are pretty good, roughly 60% girls/40% guys, but Friday it was about 90/10.

Normally I resist a little when I'm being dragged onto the dance floor, but I gave in that night. It's fun when you have hot women rubbing on you from all sides! =^D

Not too bad for a guy who doesn't particularly enjoy dancing... of course, that's because I've never known how.

I suppose I should rewind a bit... before going to the club I attended my first dance lesson. That was fun as well, but I need to stop thinking and just relax and count. We learned how to Foxtrot and East Coast Swing. I'll be getting a lot out of this class. Once I learn how to listen to the music with my body and not just my mind... that might help.

I just need to find and hone my rhythm... I'll be tango-ing the night away before you know it!

Saturday was largely uneventful, although hanging out at the club was fun. Not quite on par with the previous night, but enjoyable none-the-less.

Sunday, I chose the warmest day of the year as the perfect opportunity to rip the interior of my car to run cables for my new XM radio. After a couple of hours and a couple liter bottles of Gatorade I managed to get everything put back together... and sparkly clean!

And the extra listening option doesn't hurt either! Let's see, I have AM/FM, cassette, six-disc CD changer, iPod and now XM at my disposal on road trips. Certainly there's no way I'll get bored, right?

Now, I'll just get through the work day at the J.O.B. so I can get to work on what's really important. ;^)

Want s'more?

So, today is the 80th anniversary of the s'more.

I remember camping with my family when I was a wee lad. After cooking hot dogs over the campfire, we'd make dessert by sticking a marshmallow on a stick, holding it over the flame until it was somewhere between brown and on fire. Sometimes we'd eat the burnt marshmallow right off of the stick, and others we'd have the graham crackers and chocolate bar ready for it.

Not often though. My sisters liked s'mores, I never really cared for them.

Of course, as we get older, our tastes change. No, I still don't like s'mores, but I've expanded that dislike to marshmallows. Maybe it wasn't an "expansion," because I don't recall ever liking marshmallows. The only way I would ever eat them is toasted.

I've also never liked meringue... and since both are made from whipped egg whites, I think we have a connection.

However, I can respect that others like marshmallows and s'mores... hence the post. I'm certain there are many out there who are happy those resourceful girl scouts in 1927 put this into their handbook.

Personally, I'm content with those delightfully tiny cookies that come around once a year! =^)

Moving on, I'm looking forward to the weekend. The downtown dance studio called last week, and tonight is the first class. I had all but given up on them, because I initially called them several months ago only to be wait listed.

In fact, I was moving towards a "backup" plan. Nothing too drastic. It just involved taking a month sabbatical and spending January in Buenos Aires.

After all, the best place to learn to tango would be in Argentina, no?

Hmmm... that sounds like fun, maybe I'll still move in that direction. Besides, I don't know what kinds of dancing I'll be taught over the next several weeks.

Besides, who'd miss me if I skipped town for a month?

After tonight's class, I'll need to scoot over to the club for my first night as their photographer. Tonight it is a coop effort with my day job, but if it goes well, I'll gladly take pictures for them on the weekends!

Besides, it is where all of the hot women hang out, and I don't even pay a cover anymore! =^)

Who knows what the rest of the weekend has to offer? Only time will tell.
